Frequently Asked Questions

Admission, the ferry from Gapyeong Wharf, the run out from Seoul, the seasons, and how this site pays for itself.

Entry, Boats And Zipwire

What does the zipwire ticket cover?

The zipwire is sold by the operator that runs it, and its own fare terms state that the price covers island admission plus the boat out from Gapyeong Wharf. You return on the regular ferry. Nami Island's own page mentions only a return ferry ticket, so the seller's terms are the ones to follow when booking.

Do tour prices cover the ferry and entry?

It depends on the listing. Some tours bundle island admission and the ferry into the price, others leave both to pay at the wharf. Check inclusions before you book.

Can you arrive by zipwire?

Yes. The zipwire runs from the Gapyeong side of the river across to the island, inbound only. Its fare, per the operator that sells it, includes island admission and the outbound boat, so you arrive covered for entry. The way back is the regular ferry from the wharf.

Getting There

Can I visit without a tour?

Yes. Trains and local buses reach Gapyeong, and the wharf is a short hop from the station. The trade-off is planning: a tour handles the ferry queue and the onward stops such as Petite France or the Garden of Morning Calm in one day.

Which province is the island in?

The island sits in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, while the wharf where you board the ferry belongs to Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province. Both addresses are published by the island itself. Day tours from Seoul cross the provincial line without you noticing.

Timing

When should I go for autumn colour?

The island hotel's peak-rate calendar runs autumn from September 18 to November 15, when the ginkgo and metasequoia lanes draw their biggest crowds. Spring runs April 3 to May 5. Winter peaks December 18 to December 31.

How We Earn

How does this site earn money?

Through affiliate links. If you book a tour after following one, we earn a commission and your price is unchanged. The full arrangement is set out on the affiliate disclosure page.

Do you run or sell these tours?

No. Nothing here is sold, booked or run by this site. Every listing links to the operator's own booking page, and any commission is paid by the operator when a booking goes through.
